I’m settling in for a long writing session, getting ready to bring a long battle scene to life. I need to make sure I have the right tools for the job.
- The right music … Epic Battle Music … check!
- The right nourishment … check!
We’re off! See you on the other side of the battle.
Yes, it is National Torture … err, I mean … National Novel Writing Month again, or NaNoWriMo for those in the know. I got off to a good start today with just over three thousand words. I have a goal of hitting 100,000 words again, like I did last year, so I’m a couple hundred words behind, but it is not time to panic.
I will be switching back and forth between two novels, one of which is the sequel to Wicked Rising. I hope to have The Wrath published by the first part of the summer next year.
The other novel I’m working on I’m not ready to divulge the particulars about it. Not because I’m afraid of giving out the idea, but because it may die a slow, painful death if I can’t take it to the finish line. I’ve written enough of the plot and outline that I think it will make a decent novel, but I’ve seen this type of thing before. It starts off like gang busters, but then runs out of gas somewhere out in the desert and ends up dying and getting its bones picked over by the buzzards. I’m just going to wait on that.
You can follow my progress on the spaceman chart in the right hand column. So, time to get back to work.
I was just looking at the rankings for The Wizard’s Staff and this is what I saw. This is the title that is FREE for five days, until October 17th. I thought that was pretty cool. I wonder, does this make me a Best Seller? 😉
If you haven’t picked up your free copy, there are still a couple of days left to do so.

The release of Wicked Rising is just three days away and pre-orders are rolling in. I am still awaiting the arrival of the paperback proof copy and should get that within the next day or so and should have a paperback version of the book available at the same time as the Kindle version.
To help celebrate and to help readers become acquainted with the story of Garlan, I have packaged the four short stories, The Tales Of Garlan, into one volume. This makes it easier to get all four stories and it also saves you a dollar on the price. Pick this volume up and read it and get prepared for Wicked Rising, the first book in The Chronicles of Wyndweir series. You won’t be sorry.
Just had to put this out there. My latest novel, Into The Wishing Well, has hit the Top Ten in its category for New Releases. Woohoo! Click the image below and you can help it get even higher.
That being said, Wicked Rising is available for pre-order as a Kindle ebook and I have ordered the paperback version so I can proof it and have it ready to go soon. Hopefully, the paperback will be ready at the same time as the ebook, which is one week from today.

It’s been a long time coming, but the continuing adventures of Garlan of Whitestone Castle is finally out. Pre-order your copy today by clicking the cover image. The book becomes available on October 6th, but you can pre-order it now so that it ends up in your Kindle as soon as it’s published. There will also be a paperback version, if you still like the feel of a real book in your hands.
Garlan has passed his trials and has now left the Land Of The Dragons, only to find that evil is rising again in the Eastern Desert, just as it did four hundred years ago. This faceless threat seems to have come out of nowhere and some believe it is the same evil that arose four centuries ago. Others know better.
All the wizards, including the older ones, are looking to Garlan to be their leader in this coming war, but he isn’t so sure they have the right man. All he really wants to do is find Marnell and start a life with her. However, there are forces, both good and bad, that are trying to keep them apart.
Follow Garlan, Marnell, Sigarick and Mirroth as they fall into this conflict that causes much pain and suffering and asks the ultimate sacrifice of those it touches.

While Wicked Rising is still out with the editor, I’ve put the finishing touches on another novel that I was writing.
Into The Wishing Well is the story of Melanie Peters, a good, little preacher’s daughter, who finds herself at the “Gates of St. Peter” long before her time and they are quite surprised to see her. They can’t just let her in because she isn’t supposed to be there, so they decide to put her to work until they can find a spot for her.
So, what’s a spirit supposed to do while waiting for them to let her into Heaven?
Get this book to find out about a “guardian angel in training” and how she deals with all the daily happenings in her world, including how she deals with the dark angels that also walk among the living.
I am thinking this could be the beginning of a series or a prequel to a trilogy, but I’m not sure about that yet. I guess it will depend on how this first story is received.
As for Wicked Rising, as soon as I get the edited manuscript back, I’ll have it cleaned up and published as soon as possible. I know there are a lot of readers out there that are wondering what’s going on with Garlan and Marnell. I know because I’ve received messages asking about them and when their story will continue. Soon dear readers. Soon.
Anyway, click on the cover image above and it will take you straight to the pre-order page for Into The Wishing Well. The book is set to go live on the 8th and I’m hoping to also have the paperback formatted and ready for sale at the same time.
The first Chronicles of Wyndweir novel, Wicked Rising, is still with the editor and I’m not ready to start with the second story just yet. I have started working on the timeline and outline and that should be finished in the next month or so. I am looking at a begin date of November for the second novel.
In the meantime, I am working on another novel, called In The Beginning. This will be the first novel in The Pale Riders series that I have envisioned. This will not be a trilogy, but more of a serial, with each novel standing on its own.
And lastly, I am putting the finishing touches on a novel called Into the Wishing Well. This is a novel that started its life over fifteen years ago as a movie script and I just couldn’t get it finished. It sat around, gathering dust for the last ten years before it crossed my mind again. I decided to see if I could turn it into a novel and the results are less than 10,000 words away from being finished. I hope to have it done and published by the end of next month, probably about the time In The Beginning is ready to be published.
So, let me get back to my writing.
I have finally finished the first book of The Chronicles of Wyndweir, Wicked Rising. But, that doesn’t mean that you can buy it. Yet. That only means that I have finished it and sent it out to my editor. She, who is overworked and underpaid, shall now take a look at it and tell me everything wrong with it. When she returns it to me, mostly likely covered in red “ink,” I shall make all corrections and have it up on Amazon within a few days.
Now, I’m going to take a break for a few days and do some painting. Then, I have to get busy on another novel that I am working on and have it almost 70% finished.
Also, NaNoWriMo is getting ready to kick off its July Camp NaNoWriMo for which I am looking at writing 65,000 words of a new novel.
Then, and only then, I will start preparing for Book Two of The Chronicles of Wyndweir, which will see the bulk of it being written during the November NaNoWriMo challenge.
I need a vacation.
